A piece of paradise awaits you at the bungalows of the Picaflor Lodge. Nestled in the hills above Tarapoto with panoramic views of the Cordillera Escalera nature preserve, each bungalow suite is tastefully appointed with a comfortable bed, a large modern bathroom, a sitting area and an airy patio. From your hammock on the patio, the sound of the Rio Shilcayo draws you upstream to the gates of the nature preserve, downstream to the friendly city of Tarapoto (both just a 15 minute stroll), or simply to linger in its refreshing, clean swimming holes. After breakfasting on fruit picked from trees on the property, you can explore a local jungle hike to spectacular waterfalls, shop in the markets of Tarapoto, go boating at Laguana Azul or visit one of several local, natural healers who are proficient in the ancient Shamanic rituals. The diversity of birds, butterflies and exotic plant life is a constant stimulation as you relax in traffic-free tranquility, which while being only minutes from the city and less than one hour by air from Lima, seems definitely to be a world away. This small and tranquil jungle retreat can only accomodate groups of up to 14 people, which guarantees a personal and friendly experience every time you return.

Alberto's Testimonial
"I never would have thought that just 50 minutes from Lima there was a place so special as the Picaflor Lodge. It is a dreaming place, where for the first time ever I could experience such a contact with nature that it overwhelmed me. From my bungalow, I was able to enjoy such spectacular views that it made it impossible for me to wake up and not feel privleged at being surrounded by so much breathtaking beauty.
As the days went by, I learned to recognize many of the local birds, such as garzas, pericos, falcons and many more, not to mention a whole family of monkeys! I also had the opportunity to swim in the river and in many waterfalls as well, all within a walking distance. One day, I hiked with some friends for a lunch beside a spectacular waterfall that creates kind of a natural pool with sandy shores. It was magical! Simply out of this world!
I almost forgot, the city of Tarapoto is only 15 minutes by walking and I have to say that I really enhoyed the city mostly at night because it is so hard to keep oneself away from the nature during the daylight. I had spent the first two nights of my stay at a hotel in the city and I can tell you that there is no comparison. Staying at a hotel in the city and staying at a place so beatiful as Picaflor Lodge make all the difference. I would like to thank especially to Pancho, Martha, Ted and their crew for helping to make my stay in this place so unforgettable. Thanks to them all."
